The Washi 24N Pendant Lights are handcrafted of translucent washi paper that is made from the inner bark of the mulberry tree. Designer has compared the light of Akari to sunlight filtered through traditional paper doors – the light sculptures create a warm glow and pleasant ambience.

Crafted from natural mulberry bark, the Dekorfine Washi Paper Pendant Light seamlessly blends traditional paper-making with modern lighting design. Each piece is uniquely hand-formed by stretching translucent, durable washi paper over a custom metal frame. Once naturally air-dried to a tight, sculptural silhouette and fitted with modern electrical components, this handcrafted fixture diffuses a serene, warm glow reminiscent of sunlight filtering through classic shoji screens.

Are paper lamps a fire risk?▾
Paper shades are designed for low-heat LED bulbs. We recommend using LED bulbs, which stay cool, and staying within the labeled maximum wattage. Avoid high-wattage incandescent or halogen bulbs, and keep the shade away from direct heat sources.
How do I clean a paper light?▾
Dust gently with a soft, dry brush, a feather duster, or a hair dryer on a cool, low setting. Avoid water and liquid cleaners, which can stain, wrinkle, or warp the paper.
Is paper lighting durable?▾
With normal indoor use, paper lighting is stable and long-lasting — the bamboo or wire frame gives it structure. Keep it away from moisture, direct sunlight (which can yellow the paper over time), and rough handling.
Why are there slight differences between pieces?▾
Handmade washi paper, hand-pasting, and natural fibres create subtle variations in texture and translucency from piece to piece — this is exactly what gives paper lighting its handcrafted character.
