The Biltmore Brass Wall Sconce features a fluted linear tubular shade with decorative finials, supported by a detailed ornate embossed circular backplate. Which size should I choose?
Both share the same 7.1″ projection and 4.7″ height, differing only in length and output. The L 22″ (12W) suits a medium frame, mirror or wall; the L 29.5″ (18W) lights a wider piece of art or a run of bookcases. As a guide, pick a length close to the width of what you are lighting.
How is the light directed?
The fluted tube casts a focused wash down and out over the wall below — a directional picture/accent light ideal above framed art, a library shelf or a mirror rather than a full-room source. Its finials and embossed backplate give a classic vintage-library look.
How high should I mount it above artwork?
Center the sconce above the frame and mount the tube a little above the top of the piece — roughly 15–20 cm / 6–8″ above the top edge for a typical frame, adjusted for size so the wash is even. It is hardwired to a standard wall junction box.
How do I clean the brass?
Switch off and let it cool, then wipe the fluted tube, finials and embossed backplate with a soft, dry microfiber cloth — a small soft brush helps reach the flutes and embossing. For marks use a barely-damp cloth and dry immediately; avoid abrasive or acidic cleaners, especially on the antique brass finish.
