Wall Sconce · Alabaster, Brass & Wood · Integrated LED · Four Sizes

Hondarribia Alabaster Wall Sconce.

The Hondarribia Alabaster Wall Sconce seamlessly blends natural textures with refined craftsmanship through a striking mix of materials. Featuring a cylindrical shade hand-carved from natural translucent alabaster, flanked by rich walnut wood end caps and mounted against a warm brass backplate, this organic modern sconce diffuses a soft, ethereal glow while highlighting the stone’s unique mineral veining.

Please note Each alabaster shade is hand-carved natural stone – its veining, translucency and tone vary by piece, so your sconce will differ slightly from the photos, and no two are alike.

Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

Which size should I choose?

All four share the same slim 2.8″ × 3.5″ profile in different heights. The H 11.8″ is a compact accent for bedsides and reading nooks. The H 17.7″ suits powder rooms and hallways. Beside a mirror, choose a height close to the mirror’s own – the H 23.6″ for standard bathroom mirrors, the H 31.5″ for tall mirrors, entryways and stairwells.

How high should I mount it?

Mount the center of the sconce at roughly eye level, about 150–165 cm / 59–65″ from the floor. Flanking a vanity mirror, place a sconce on each side about 36–40″ apart so light falls evenly across the face; as a bedside light, mount the shorter size so its bottom sits about 15–25 cm / 6–10″ above the top of the mattress. It is hardwired to a standard wall junction box and controlled by an external wall switch (not included). We recommend installation by a licensed electrician.

Do I need to buy bulbs?

No – the Hondarribia uses an integrated LED light source built into the fixture: 17W, 23W, 29W or 40W depending on height. There are no bulbs to buy or replace, and the light glows evenly through the alabaster to bring out its veining.

How do I care for the alabaster and wood?

Alabaster is a soft, porous natural stone – clean it with a soft, dry cloth only and never use water, sprays or cleaning products, which can mark or dull the surface. Wipe the walnut end caps and brass backplate with a soft, dry cloth as well. Switch off at the wall and let the fixture cool first. Natural veining and tonal variations are part of the stone’s character, not a defect.

Alabaster lighting collection
The Alabaster Collection

Stone that
holds the light.

Hand-quarried alabaster, carved into vessels that glow from within — a material as old as architecture itself, rendered for the modern home.

The Material

Carved from stone,
finished by hand.

Alabaster is a mineral first worked by the Egyptians and Greeks — prized then, as now, for its translucency and quiet grain. Each of our fixtures begins as a block of raw stone and ends in a fixture that glows as if lit from inside the earth itself.

Why Alabaster

A material that changes a room.

Synthetic shades mimic the look. Alabaster is the look. Semi-translucent, naturally warm, and quietly alive — it softens the light passing through it and fills a space with the kind of glow that makes people slow down.

01
Naturally translucent. Light passes through, not around — the fixture itself becomes the source.
02
One-of-a-kind veining. Every piece carries a different pattern — your fixture will not exist anywhere else.
03
Warm by nature. The stone's creamy tone renders LED light flattering and soft — never cold, never clinical.
04
Timeless, not trending. A material used in sacred architecture for three thousand years — it will outlast every design cycle.

To work with alabaster is to follow the stone — not force it. Each block tells the carver where the light wants to go.

From the Dekorfine Atelier
The Craft

Four steps from
quarry to fixture.

Every alabaster piece passes through the same four hands — cutting, shaping, drilling, finishing. What arrives at your door carries the trace of all of them.

Cutting alabaster blocks
01

Cutting

Raw blocks are scored and cut on precision stone saws — every dimension traced from the original design, every grain of the stone respected.

Shaping and turning alabaster
02

Shaping

Complex curves are turned on lathes and carved by hand. Each fixture's silhouette is coaxed from the stone rather than imposed on it.

Drilling for wiring and fittings
03

Drilling

Concealed channels are drilled for wiring and concealed hardware — invisible in the finished piece, but critical to the clean line.

Polishing and surface finishing
04

Finishing

Polished to a soft lustre or honed to matte — whichever brings the stone's veining forward without overpowering it.
