The Rispal Giraffe Floor Lamp.

A floor lamp inspired by the 1950s French mid-century vocabulary popularized by Jean Rispal — a slender walnut wood column rises from a U-shaped foot on slim black tripod legs, threading through an integrated mini wood console shelf on the way up to a generous oval white fabric drum shade.

A standalone reading lamp and a side surface in one — designed for the spot beside an armchair where you'd want both light and somewhere to put your book.

The story

A French armchair lamp with a place for your book.

The Giraffe vocabulary — slim wooden column, U-shaped foot, slender iron legs, oval shade — was developed in 1950s French mid-century interiors as a working-room lamp: enough light to read by, enough shelf to set down a coffee or a paperback. The signature touch is the row of small slot perforations along the wood column, originally a structural detail that lightened the form and gave the giraffe its lean, vertical character.

Here that vocabulary is reset for the modern home — solid walnut column (or White-finished wood) with the slotted detail intact, an integrated mini console shelf at chair-arm height, a U-shaped foot resting on slim black tripod iron legs, and a generous oval white fabric drum shade that diffuses warm even light over the seating below. Pairs effortlessly with mid-century modern, retro futurism, modern eclectic, transitional, contemporary classical, and warm-eclectic interiors.

Inspired by the iconic Giraffe-form floor lamp vocabulary popularized by mid-20th-century French designers — independently designed and manufactured by Dekorfine in the spirit of that tradition.

In our marketing photos, the cable is styled to appear nearly invisible against the wood column. In actual use, the cable runs alongside the column with a slight visible gap — it cannot be tightly hidden flush to the wood as the photo suggests. The cable still routes neatly down the back of the column with cable management clips, but expect to see it from certain angles. This is a property of the construction, not a defect.

Will the cable look exactly like the photos?

No — please set realistic expectations on this. In our marketing images, the cable is styled to appear nearly invisible against the wood column. The actual product runs the cable alongside the wood with a small visible gap — it cannot be tightly compressed flush against the wood as the photo suggests.

The cable is still routed neatly down the back of the column with cable-management clips, and from many angles is barely noticeable, but it will be visible from some angles. This is a property of how the lamp is constructed, not a defect.

What is the heritage behind this lamp?

The Rispal Giraffe Floor Lamp is inspired by the Giraffe-form floor lamp vocabulary popularized by mid-20th-century French designers — the slim slotted wood column, U-shaped foot, integrated mini console, and oval fabric drum shade all reference that tradition. Independently designed and manufactured by Dekorfine in the spirit of that vocabulary, with our own production methods.

Where does it work best?

The Rispal is designed as a beside-the-armchair lamp — the integrated console shelf sits at chair-arm height, perfect for setting down a book, mug, glass of wine, or remote control. Best placements:

Beside a reading chair · at one end of a sofa · in a study or library corner · beside a daybed in a guest room. At H 168 cm, the shade sits at standing-shoulder height when you walk past, casting warm diffused light downward over the seating below.

How is it controlled — and is it dimmable?

Foot-switch on/off located on the cord — toe-tap to turn on or off. The lamp ships with a 150 cm / 59″ cord and switch plug ready for a standard outlet (no electrician needed).

The lamp itself is not dimmable. For ambiance variation, use a dimmable smart bulb (E26/E27, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth) and adjust brightness via phone app or voice assistant.

What can I put on the integrated console shelf?

The console is sized for everyday lightweight items — a paperback book or two, a coffee mug, a wine glass, a phone, a pair of reading glasses, the TV remote. It's not a full side-table replacement; treat it as a "what I'm currently using" surface, not a permanent display platform.

The shelf is solid wood and easy to wipe down — but use coasters under wet glasses to protect the wood finish over time.

This policy applies to all lighting fixtures sold on dekorfine.com worldwide. You have 30 calendar days from receiving your item to request a return — the terms below keep every case fair for both sides.

Window

Thirty days, simply stated.

You have 30 calendar days from the delivery date — verified by carrier tracking — to request a return or exchange. Items must be unused, with original tags and packaging, and accompanied by a receipt or proof of purchase.

Who pays return shipping

Quality or transport issue — we cover free return and exchange, including shipping.
Personal preference — if the fixture simply isn't right for you, return shipping is your responsibility. Rates vary by carrier.

Common consumer reasons: the product didn't meet expectations, sizing concerns, color preferences, change of mind, wrong item or quantity ordered, or overlooked product specifications.

Please inspect your order on arrival. If anything is defective, damaged, or incorrect, contact support@dekorfine.com immediately so we can make it right.

Product damaged due to quality defects or transit.
Unused items returned within the 30-day window.
Any item returned to sender undelivered.
Any item not delivered within 90 days.

Not eligible for return or exchange

Items returned outside the 30-day window.
Orders or items valued at $5,000 or more.
Bespoke, custom, or special-order products made to your specifications.
Light bulbs.
Products not in original condition or packaging.
Bulk orders — three or more of the same product. For large orders we recommend purchasing a single item first to confirm fit.

For items not eligible for refund, customers are responsible for return shipping. Shipping charges are non-refundable.

Cancellation
& EU Terms

Canceling an order.

Cancellations are possible within 3 days of order confirmation. Once this window closes, if the order hasn't shipped yet, contact us — we may still be able to help. Once the package is in transit, orders cannot be canceled.

If you insist on canceling after shipment, a 30%–50% fee (warehousing, order processing, and shipping costs) will be deducted from your refund. Please review your order carefully before confirming.

European Union — 14-day cooling-off

Orders shipped to the EU may be canceled or returned within 14 days for any reason, without justification. The item must still be unused, with original tags and packaging, and accompanied by proof of purchase.

We confirm the refund amount based on your reason and the items in your order.
We provide the return address and shipment labeling instructions. Refunds require these instructions to be followed.
You ship at your own cost. We do not cover return shipping or supply prepaid labels. Please include your order confirmation email inside the package.
Notify us by email once shipped, and share the tracking number if available.
We process your return within 3–5 business days of receipt.

Exchanges

The fastest way to get the item you want is to return the original, and once the return is accepted, place a separate order for the replacement.

Refund
Timing

Refunds, honestly timed.

Once we've received and inspected your return, we'll notify you whether the refund is approved. If approved, funds return automatically to your original payment method within 10 business days.

Bear in mind that your bank or card issuer may need additional time to process and post the refund on their end.
