For a transitional or contemporary look, the Concrete Industry Pendant family is a nice solution. The housing is sturdy and the metal wire mesh casts the light nicely.
We received them, and they were poorly made. The bottom of the lamps is cheap, and it looks like a sticker was glued to the lamp's base. I will not recommend the lamps. I wish I could return them and get my money back. It was a terrible way to lose my money.

This is the most basic of basic light fixtures you're going to get. It seems well-made, and that's always a plus in my books. We put this up in a hallway - and it creates just the right amount of light to illuminate that area.
