The story

A small character on the wall.

The Colorato uses two honest materials in conversation: a circular natural-wood shade diffuses warm light gently, while a matte metal arm projects it from the wall mount. What makes the piece sing is the small decorative bird perched on top — a playful, almost sculptural detail that turns a simple sconce into a quiet conversation piece. The bird can be detached and stored or repositioned on a shelf if you ever want a more minimal read.

Can I remove the bird ornament?

Yes — the small bird perched on top is held in place by a simple friction fit and lifts off without tools. Remove it for a cleaner, more architectural sconce read, or keep it perched for the playful character. You can also reposition the bird on a shelf, windowsill, or bedside table as a standalone ornament when you change moods or rooms.

The lamp functions normally with or without the bird in place.

What size is the lamp, and where does it work best?

The Colorato measures ∅ 5.9″ × H 7.5″ (Dia 15 × H 19 cm) with the bird in place — a compact accent scale that suits intimate placements rather than statement walls.

Best for: bedsides (one per side instead of bedside lamps to free nightstand space), reading nooks beside an armchair, console tables in entryways, powder rooms, hallways, and children's bedrooms (where the bird detail is especially welcome). Pairs effortlessly with modern farmhouse, Scandi, Japandi, cottage, contemporary, and warm-traditional interiors.

How is it installed?

The Colorato hardwires to a standard wall junction box. The wall mount plate covers the J-box, with the metal arm projecting forward to support the wood shade and bird. An electrician is recommended unless you're comfortable with basic wiring.

The lamp requires an external wall switch (not included) — there's no inline cord switch or on-fixture button. Pair with any common single-pole wall switch, or with a smart wall switch for app/voice control.

What kind of bulb does it use, and is it dimmable?

One E26 / E27 screw-base bulb (LED or Edison; not included). E26 in North America, E27 in Europe. Warm-white LED at 2700K is recommended for the most flattering glow through the wood shade.

Dimming depends on your wall switch — pair with a dimmable LED bulb and a compatible LED-rated wall dimmer for adjustable brightness. The lamp itself has no built-in dimming circuit.

What is the return and exchange policy?

Dekorfine offers a 30-day return policy on undamaged items in their original packaging. Because each wood shade has natural grain variation, slight differences in tone and pattern between units are part of authentic wood character — not defects.

Annulering
& EU-voorwaarden

Het annuleren van een volgorde.

Annuleringen zijn mogelijk binnen 3 dagen na orderbevestiging. Als dit venster sluit en de bestelling nog niet is verzonden, neem dan contact met ons op — wellicht kunnen we u alsnog helpen. Zodra het pakket onderweg is, kunnen bestellingen niet meer worden geannuleerd.

Als u na verzending toch wilt annuleren, 30%–50% commissie (Opslag-, orderverwerkings- en verzendkosten) worden van uw terugbetaling afgetrokken. Controleer uw bestelling zorgvuldig voordat u deze bevestigt.

Europese Unie — 14 dagen bedenktijd

Bestellingen die naar de EU worden verzonden, kunnen binnen [termijn] worden geannuleerd of geretourneerd. 14 dagen Retourneren is niet mogelijk, om welke reden dan ook en zonder opgave van redenen. Het artikel moet ongebruikt zijn, voorzien van de originele labels en verpakking, en vergezeld van een aankoopbewijs.

Hoe Een artikel retourneren.

  3. Wij bevestigen Het restitutiebedrag wordt bepaald op basis van uw reden en de artikelen in uw bestelling.
  4. Wij bieden Het retouradres en de instructies voor het labelen van de verzending. Voor terugbetalingen is het noodzakelijk dat deze instructies worden opgevolgd.
  5. U verzendt Op eigen kosten. Wij vergoeden geen retourverzendkosten en verstrekken geen vooraf betaalde verzendlabels. Voeg uw orderbevestigingsmail bij in het pakket.
  6. Breng ons op de hoogte Stuur een e-mail zodra het pakket is verzonden en deel het trackingnummer indien beschikbaar.

§ 01 — The Story

Nature's little companions.

When light stops being only illumination and becomes a moment of stillness, a room starts to breathe differently. The Perch & Glow Collection is drawn from the quiet hours deep in Nordic forests — early light through pine, a single bird waking before the rest of the woods.

Each lamp is built around that pause. A solid-wood frame. A warm, hand-blown shade. And one — or two, or three — small carved birds perched along the branches, as if they had simply chosen to stay.

§ 02 — The Bird

A companion on every branch.

At the centre of every piece sits our proprietary Spirit Bird — a small wooden figure, hand-finished and individually positioned. No two are placed alike, and no two are carved identically; each one is given its own posture, as if mid-thought.

The bird is not decoration applied to a lamp. It is the reason the lamp exists at all — the still point around which the light, the shade, and the wood arrange themselves.

§ 03 — The Material

Wood you can feel.

We work with kiln-dried solid wood — primarily ash and walnut — chosen for grain that runs long and clean rather than figured for drama. Surfaces are hand-sanded through five grits and finished with a plant-based oil; the touch is warm rather than slick, and the colour deepens slowly with use.

Wood softens light the way fabric softens sound. The warmth of the timber balances the cold edge of metal and glass, and the glow leaves the shade gentler than it arrived.

§ 06 — Questions

Before you buy.

What kind of wood is used, and is every piece slightly different?

Each lamp is made from FSC-certified solid ash or walnut, kiln-dried before milling. Because we use real wood rather than veneer, the grain, knot pattern, and exact tone vary from piece to piece. Two lamps of the same model will look like siblings, not identical twins — that variation is part of the design.

Are the carved birds hand-made? Can I choose which bird I get?

Yes — every Spirit Bird is hand-shaped and oil-finished in our studio. Each model has a defined set of bird postures (perched, head-turned, wings tucked), but the specific bird that ships with your lamp is selected at packing and not configurable. The intention is that the bird finds you, rather than the other way around.

What bulb should I use? Is the lamp dimmable?

We recommend a warm-white LED at 2700K, 4–7W, with a non-frosted filament-style bulb for the best effect through the hand-blown shade. All Perch & Glow fittings are dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmer switch and dimmable bulb — wood and warm light are at their best at around 40–60% output.

How do I care for the wood and the brass hardware?

Dust with a soft, dry cloth. Every 6–12 months, apply a thin coat of plant-based furniture oil (we include a small bottle with each lamp) to keep the wood from drying out. Avoid silicone polishes. The brass is lacquer-free and will develop a soft patina over time; if you prefer the original brightness, a light buff with a microfibre cloth restores it.

Will it fit a standard ceiling? What about sloped or vaulted ceilings?

All ceiling-mounted pieces ship with adjustable cord or rod lengths suited to ceilings between 2.4m and 3.5m. For sloped, vaulted, or higher ceilings, contact our team before ordering — we can supply extended cords or a sloped-ceiling adapter at no extra cost.

How is the collection shipped? Are the carved birds protected?

Each lamp ships in a custom-cut foam interior inside a double-walled carton. The Spirit Bird travels separately in its own padded sleeve and is fitted on arrival via a magnetic perch — no tools required. Shipping is fully insured; in the rare case of damage in transit, we replace the affected component at no cost.
