Where does this light work best?
At ∅ 18.9″, the Maude is sized as the main light for primary bedrooms, guest suites and nurseries of roughly 10 × 12 ft to 12 × 14 ft. It also suits coastal-style living rooms, breakfast nooks and entryways.
Will it work with my ceiling height?
Yes – at 11.8″ (30 cm) tall it leaves about 7 ft (214 cm) of clearance on an 8 ft ceiling, meeting the recommended minimum for walkways. On lower ceilings, center it over a bed or seating area. It is hardwired to a standard ceiling junction box and controlled by a common wall switch (not included). We recommend installation by a licensed electrician.
What bulbs do you recommend?
This fixture takes E26 or E27 bulbs. Use A19/A60 LED bulbs at about 8–10W in warm white (2700 K); LEDs stay cool next to the raffia, and the scalloped shade softens them into a warm, relaxed glow. Bulbs are not included. E26 vs E27 guide →
How do I care for the raffia?
Raffia is a natural fiber – dust it with a soft, dry brush or a vacuum brush attachment on low, and never use water, sprays or cleaning products, which can stain or weaken the fibers. Keep it away from humid areas such as bathrooms. Wipe the metal parts with a soft, dry cloth. Switch off at the wall and let the bulbs cool first. Natural variations in color and weave are part of its character, not a defect.
